We don't often see different types of birds in contact with one another. To observe, or think of something unusual and then to paint it in a way one would not see in this reality is the beauty of art. The painting depicts a scene which takes place in the summer, as is indicated by the lily pads. However, the color scheme suggests a frosty winter. As my art evolves, I find myself painting less and less from reference, for there is so much more to this world than what meets the eye.
