Animals find contentment so easily do they not? They do not chase after money, fame, accomplishments, fitness goals, possessions, and the list goes on. This oil painting of an orangutan named Kyle highlights this point by showing the contentment and calm a monkey can have when it is simply gnawing on a twig. I do not lie when I say I sometimes feel inferior to animals. They manage to be so free and detached from the material world. And meanwhile I spend my days worrying about the kinds of jobs I should apply to in order to make an appropriate amount of money for a college graduate. Perhaps I should find myself a branch, hoist myself above the world, and start gnawing on the first branch I see. (I'm not being serious of course...but I can't help but wonder what I might learn).
