The Girl and The Fox

Project type

Oil Painting

Say, wouldn't it be thrilling if animals could approach us without the act invoking fear on either end? What if we could enjoy the company of wild animals as if they were our long lost friends? I remember at the age of 14, thrusting myself behind a bush and allowing my eyes to adjusted to the throng of branches inches from my nose. After which I suddenly found myself face to face with a robin. Perhaps it was fear. Perhaps it was something else. But the robin simply stared, and stared, and stared. I wiggled my finger towards it and stroked it twice. It then decided it had had enough of this furless creature's strange behavior and flew away. Perhaps if we learned to respect animals a little more, they would grace us with their presence a little more. Thus my painting, The Girl and The Fox. An ode to a world that does not, but could one day exist.
